Nothing makes me get up, walk across the room to turn the radio OFF faster than Nickelback. My favorite song to hate of theirs is Rockstar. So stupid. That’s my little rant for the morning. Don’t like Nickelback. With the heat of a thousand suns I don’t like ‘em.
I’m going home to Tyler tomorrow…finally. I want to sleep in my own bed. I want to check my mail. I want to crap with the bathroom door open without fear of housekeeping coming in because I forgot to put the safety chain up. Too much? My bad.
So I’ve been fighting it for years, but today was pretty much the icing on the cake. I can no longer in good faith continue to root for Denny’s. I don’t know what happened to that place since the time I was in college, the early years, but it has become horrible. Every one I go to, no matter what city I’m in, I get the same crappy service and subpar food. It’s like they purposely try to find the worst people to be on the wait staff. I’m not even talking about the crazies that work the night shift. I was there just 30 minutes ago during “normal” breakfast” time and it the experience was less than desirable.
Goodbye Denny’s. We had our time years ago. Our time is now officially done. I now need to find another breakfast joint. Still not too keen on the IHOP scene. I’ll keep ya posted.
I’ve decided to go old school with this weeks selection. When I say old school, I really do mean old school. This song is called “Candy Rain” by Soul for Real. Oh yes, I went there.
So I’ve been in Dallas for the past 2 weeks recruiting for my job. This is my third travel season and it never ceases to amaze me some of the things that I hear on the road. Here is a list of some of the crazy statements and questions that I get as a recruiter.
“I wanna major in CSI”
“Do you have airbrushing…like for t-shirts?”
“Do you have black people at your school?”
“Do you allow ‘beaners’ into your school?”
“You mean I gotta go to school that long to be a doctor!?”
That’s really just a small sample of what recruiters get to hear on the road. It frightens me to think that our future as old people is dependent on the students of today. Please, lets try to limit the reproduction of stupid people.
At the request of my faithful reader, here is another Friday edition of New Music Thursday. Yesterday just wasn’t going to happen. This is Lazlo Bane’s video “Superman.” It is also the theme song for my favorite show Scrubs. Great song. Great show. Enjoy.
Just a quick little update. I am in Dallas until next week recruiting. It doesn’t leave me much time to update as you can tell. When I get more time I’ll be sure to keep you guys posted. I’m making a quick detour to Lakeview this afternoon to lead worship for the Student Activities and Government Association Saturday morning. After that I’ll be back up in the Dallas area again. Fun fun. Later.
