And life just keeps on rollin…

Happy New Year!

Well I certainly hope that everyone have a blessed and wonderful Christmas.  I certainly did.  Now I’m looking forward to the start of a new year.  I suppose the cliche’ thing to do would be to have a top ten list of something from the year 2007 that I liked, or didn’t liked.  You know, that takes too much thinking so I will spare you.  Aren’t you glad?!  I will tell you that I am looking forward to a few things this new year.  For one, I’m just a few short weeks from being the full time Communications Director at work (yes a small pay raise too).  Another is a new student ministry that a few friends and I are working on for the Jacksonville community.  I’m really excited about that because it gets me even more involved with college ministry.  Third, we’re working on revamping our current student ministry on our campus.  This is definitely exciting for me but will be a good thing for the students as well.  There are more I’m sure but I’ll spare you a long list.

I don’t know what I’ll be doing for new years eve yet.  I will however try to stay up to midnight…central time.  There has been occasion where I have missed the ball drop because I’m an old man.  Whatever I do I’m sure it will NOT be anything extravagant or outlandish.  That’s just not my style!  I hope that everyone stays safe and has a blessed and wonderful new year.  See you in 2008!

Peace!

New Music Thursday

Ok, here we go again. I’ll be the first to admit that I wasn’t too keen on Blue October the first time I heard them. They grew on me after awhile though. I found a live performance of “Calling You” from the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning Show. They are phenomenal and this is definitely one of my favorite songs of theres. I always love a band that doesn’t suck in a live acoustic setting. Enjoy. This is Blue October performing “Calling You” live.

New Music Thursday

Happy Thursday to everybody. It’s especially good for me since I don’t have to go back to work until the new year. Oh yeah. Today’s edition of New Music Thursday features one of my favorite singer/songwriters. Schuyler (pronounced Skylar) Fisk is truly an amazing young musician that has a brilliant future ahead of her. If you’ve seen the movie “Orange County” then you have seen Schuyler. She was the red-headed girlfriend that played opposite Colin Hanks. Anyway. I discovered her on the “Last Kiss” soundtrack and have been hooked ever since. She’s working on getting her first album out as we speak. Unfortunately it’s pretty hard to find good quality performances so I had to jump on this one. This is one of my favorite songs called “From Where I’m Standing.” Enjoy.

Hurt so….good???

So this week I started working out again.  Get a pretty good corporate rate with the school for the fitness center at the hospital so I figured why not.  I wasn’t using the free stuff.  Right now I am in pain!  Not bad pain, but pain none the less.  I am so sore because it has been so long since I worked out.  Right now I’m just introducing my body again to exercise.   After the new year I’ll start up a workout program for myself and a friend.  Oh yeah, I’ll be ready for the beach this summer!  I just need to make sure I have time to go to the beach!

I need a massage.  Any takers?  Really?  None?  Guess I’ll go back to work.

Whats going on…

Well folks, the semester is finally over. It seems like it’s been extremely long, yet it flew by so quickly. It makes sense in my head so don’t worry. This semester was my very last travel season. That’s right, no more endless weeks away from home, living out of a suitcase, bouncing from city to city. I’ll still have business trips but they will be more of my choice, on my terms. Although I am happy to be done with the travel, it is bitter sweet for me. I’ve made a lot of friends during my three seasons out on the road. I will really miss them dearly. I’ll keep in contact with most, but reality says that I’ll only be able to see a small portion of them face to face. To my TACRAO Alliance, I bid thee farewell.

That leads me to the next stage in my career. I am currently transitioning into my new full-time roll as communications director. The position isn’t really new, just the full-time part. I’m really looking forward to it because it will really give me a chance to prove myself to…well myself. This is somewhat of a new area for me. Most people in my position went to school in a related field, such as marketing or public relations. Not me, I got the people watchers degree (Interpersonal Communication). That’s okay though because I love a challenge. What fun would it be if it weren’t challenging? This switch will also alleviate a lot of stress that I’ve had lately with work. I won’t go into details but it will be a big relief.

This past weekend my friend and I ventured up to Fort Worth to attend Rhett’s ordination ceremony. He finished his Masters of Divinity and is now an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. The entire trip was a blast. We met up with my brother and some other friends and really had a good time. Friday night we ate in downtown Ft. Worth and then I introduced Rhett and Paul to Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar. That is one of my favorite hangouts and it was a blast. Paul and Rhett really enjoyed it as well. We didn’t get there as early as I would have liked so we weren’t able to get a table. Rest assured that it did not keep us from having a good time! Saturday was the ceremony and afterwards we all went out to eat with friends and Rhett’s family. After that we headed back to East Texas where I proceeded to chill the rest of the weekend.

This morning I started my membership at the fitness center. That means that I start my morning by waking up at 5:45 to get to the gym at 6:30. Yeah, it will take some getting used to but it really is a great way to start off the day. Aside from feeling sick because the toxins are being flushed from my system, I feel great. By the first of the year, I plan to start my program. I’m using this time to get my body acclimated to working out again and to do my assessments and goals. I’m looking forward to getting back in shape and being active again! I’ll be sure to be y’all posted. Have a good day!

New Music Thursday

Howdy folks! Yes, that’s right! New Music Thursday is back and in full force! It seems like forever since I had a post. I suppose I could look and find out exactly, but I don’t feel like it.

I’m going to get things started again with a little taste of my culture…my Korean culture to be precise. Today we have a video from Korean recording artist Kim Bum Soo. This guy is a phenomenal singer. In addition to singing, he does these mini dramatic music videos. If there’s one thing that Asians do well, it’s drama! These are a little longer than your average music video. They’re musical short movies. That’s probably the best way I can describe it. It’s in Korean but if you watch it, you’ll be able to understand what’s going on. Trust me, you’ll enjoy it! This video is titled Bo Go Sip Da, which means I Miss You. This actually a video for a drama TV series that airs in Korea. The song is one of my favorites. Later I’ll post a video of just Kim Bum Soo singing it. Until then, enjoy!

Welcome back

Well, I guess you can say I was on a blogging vacation.  I really was because I just did not feeling like writing about anything.  It happens.

I’m done with the traveling/recruiting seasons…for good.  Now I’m just waiting on the official full-time transition into my new position.  I can’t wait because it is long over due for some change.  I’ve got lots of things lined up for the new year that I’m looking forward to implementing.  If you watch the news, you should start seeing more stories on Lon Morris.  I may even make a few appearances from time to time.  Don’t worry, I’ll never be the guy that refuses to give out autographs.  Come one come all!

On another good note, the semester is almost over.  I’ll be looking forward to some much needed time off.  I just want to be able to have some time to myself where I can do whatever I want.  Hopefully there will be a group of us going to the Alamo Bowl this year in San Antonio.  I’ve always wanted to go to a Bowl Game so I’m really looking forward to it.  I don’t know exactly what I’ll be doing for New Years yet, but I’m sure I’ll have a good time regardless (irregardless for Kelly).

Robbie and Kristen had there baby Thanksgiving week.  Kelsey Caroline was 9 lbs 1 oz.  Thank goodness for C-sections!  Next in line would be the Kahldens.  Better start practicing holding babies Ryan.  April’s just around the corner!  I did get a chance hold the little one last week so I’m good!

Alright,  I’m writing this in the office so I should probably get back to work.  I should be able to update a little more frequently now.  Get off my back Romack.  Till then…love, piece, and chicken grease.
