And life just keeps on rollin…

New Music Thursday

Happy Thursday to everybody. The week is almost over! Today’s edition features a band called Yellowcard. I only recently discovered them myself through itunes. I knew that they were a rock/pop, whatever you want to label it, type band but my first experience with them was acoustically. I was hooked immediately. This is one of their popular songs called “Ocean Avenue.” Enjoy.

New Music Thursday

Happy Thursday to y’all. This is actually like my Friday this week because I’m not coming into work tomorrow! That’ll be so great.

Today’s edition is reaching back a bit to an group that some might have forgotten already. This is Evanescence doing an acoustic version of the popular song My Immortal. Amy Lee has got a phenomenal and powerful voice. I love hearing her sing and I was especially pleased to find so many acoustic performances. I always love bands that are not afraid to strip it down and get real with their music. Here it is folks, Evanescence with “My Immortal.”

New Music Thursday

I decided to follow up this week with another from the group that is Dispatch. If there was a song of theirs that most people recognize, this might be it. This was actually the song that introduced me to Dispatch. The song is called The General. All I can say is that this song is just fun. I love it! As always, I try to find live performances because that’s what I like. This is an appearance they made on The Late Show. The General….enjoy.

New Music Thursday

Well, it’s the first video post of the new year. I thought I would kick off the new year with one of my all time favorite bands. They are currently no longer playing together but I still love them. They are an indie group called Dispatch. If you’ve ever had a conversation with me about music, chances are you’ve heard me mention these guys before. There style is one of their own. It’s almost like a collaboration of a number of different genres, but not enough to be grouped into one. This song is my absolute favorite of theirs. It’s called Elias and is about a man in Zimbabwe named Elias. Elias’ dream is to see his children grow and receive an education. There is a fund set up that explains more about the story called the Elias Fund. I encourage you to check it out. If you know the story behind the song, it makes it that much more meaningful. The song is Elias.

New Music Thursday

Ok, here we go again. I’ll be the first to admit that I wasn’t too keen on Blue October the first time I heard them. They grew on me after awhile though. I found a live performance of “Calling You” from the Kidd Kraddick in the Morning Show. They are phenomenal and this is definitely one of my favorite songs of theres. I always love a band that doesn’t suck in a live acoustic setting. Enjoy. This is Blue October performing “Calling You” live.

New Music Thursday

Happy Thursday to everybody. It’s especially good for me since I don’t have to go back to work until the new year. Oh yeah. Today’s edition of New Music Thursday features one of my favorite singer/songwriters. Schuyler (pronounced Skylar) Fisk is truly an amazing young musician that has a brilliant future ahead of her. If you’ve seen the movie “Orange County” then you have seen Schuyler. She was the red-headed girlfriend that played opposite Colin Hanks. Anyway. I discovered her on the “Last Kiss” soundtrack and have been hooked ever since. She’s working on getting her first album out as we speak. Unfortunately it’s pretty hard to find good quality performances so I had to jump on this one. This is one of my favorite songs called “From Where I’m Standing.” Enjoy.

New Music Thursday

Howdy folks! Yes, that’s right! New Music Thursday is back and in full force! It seems like forever since I had a post. I suppose I could look and find out exactly, but I don’t feel like it.

I’m going to get things started again with a little taste of my culture…my Korean culture to be precise. Today we have a video from Korean recording artist Kim Bum Soo. This guy is a phenomenal singer. In addition to singing, he does these mini dramatic music videos. If there’s one thing that Asians do well, it’s drama! These are a little longer than your average music video. They’re musical short movies. That’s probably the best way I can describe it. It’s in Korean but if you watch it, you’ll be able to understand what’s going on. Trust me, you’ll enjoy it! This video is titled Bo Go Sip Da, which means I Miss You. This actually a video for a drama TV series that airs in Korea. The song is one of my favorites. Later I’ll post a video of just Kim Bum Soo singing it. Until then, enjoy!
